A Stone in the Riptide

Choosing between life and living
is like settling in the pull,
a stone in the riptide
letting the waves seep into your cracks
breaking you apart, piece by piece;
unnoticeable until there's nothing left.

Choosing between living and life
is a skim across the surface;
sinking is inevitable
but you dance across the waves all the same
knowing the next storm will bring you back
and you'll be more than a stone in the riptide
